We are looking for two female actors:
Ava (23-35)
Ava is a self-reliant, composed young woman shaped by a painful childhood with her alcoholic, manipulative mother, Celeste. Growing up neglected, Ava became emotionally guarded and hyper-independent, ultimately cutting ties with Celeste at age 20. Eight years later, her mother’s sudden return before Ava’s wedding forces her to confront her unresolved trauma. Through this emotional journey, Ava learns to stop seeking change or validation from her mother. By the story’s end, she reclaims her power, sets firm boundaries, and chooses self-preservation over repeating cycles of unearned forgiveness.
Celeste (45-55)
Celeste is a charming yet manipulative woman whose words rarely match her actions. A lifelong alcoholic, she relies on guilt, lies, and blame to control others, especially her daughter, Ava. Throughout Ava’s life, Celeste consistently put her addiction and self-interest before her role as a mother, using emotional manipulation and empty promises to maintain a hold on her. When she reappears claiming to be sober and changed, her secret drinking and deceit reveal the truth. Her story is quietly tragic, given one last chance to make things right, she falters. In the end, while Ava chooses to move forward, Celeste is left facing the emptiness of her choices and the painful awareness of what she has lost.
